On inspiration and motivation

As a dancer and architectural historian with a science and tech background, my approach to design seeks to seamlessly synthesize the experiential, temporal, and structural aspects of the built environment.

I also strongly believe that we have a responsibility to design as well and thoughtfully for those of modest means as we do for the wealthiest clients. The high profile failures of certain utopian design projects do not negate the capacity of design to have a positive impact on human lives.  Given the close ties of building policy and quality, and issues of social and environmental justice, we must never lose sight of the agency we have as designers to either ameliorate or perpetuate these conditions.

I hold a Master of Architecture Degree (2015), an Historic Preservation Certificate (2015), and a Bachelor of Architectural History Degree (2009) from the University of Virginia. For more about me and my experience, please see my resume and work sample, linked at the top of the page.
